Dakota Fanning (my favorite child actor) stars in a live-action adaptation of Charlotte’s Web that hits theatres December 15. Julia Roberts provides the voice for Charlotte. My first reaction was, what a lovely book to film–but then I wondered if seeing it on the big screen will ruin my images and memories of the story. I did like the recent The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and it didn’t do any damage to the book for me. What do you think? Will you be seeing Charlotte’s Web, or is it too precious to risk?
Becoming Jane, starring Anne Hathaway as the young Jane Austen, will release sometime next year. The screenplay is based on the novel by Karen Joy Fowler, of which I have seen mixed reviews. Have any of you Austen fans (and I know there are many of you!) read it?
