History Lives: the end of an era

A very special Royal Mail package arrived this morning from Scotland with proof that the History Lives series is complete at last!  Yep, it was our author copies of Rescue and Redeem: Chronicles of the Modern Church, the fifth and final volume.  And it seems momentous all of a sudden.

It dawns on me that we’ve been living with this project for seven years. SEVEN YEARS!  Back in 2002 when we first entered discussions with the editor, we had no idea the blood, sweat, and tears that would go into this.  The stacks of photocopies.  The library research sessions.  The countless cups of coffee at countless coffee shops.  The “vacation” days from work (or, in Brandon’s case, from dissertation writing) spent in 18-hour writing marathons.  The emails flying between our laptops as we exchanged files, re-worked each other’s words, and then exchanged files again.  And now that it’s over?  We’re talking about future joint projects, of course!  Guess we’re gluttons for punishment — and we love working as a team.  But we haven’t jumped into anything yet; for now, we’re both working on individual projects and enjoying branching out into other avenues.

Anyway, if you care to join us in celebration, Amazon is now accepting pre-orders with an anticipated ship date of March 15.  And the book is already available in the UK.  So thanks once again to all of you who have read and recommended the rest of the series.  We hope you enjoy the last book as much as the first!
