Lenten blog reading

divine-hours-springtime-small.jpgFor those of you who are observing Lent, I suggest a visit to the Lenten blog of Phyllis Tickle, longtime religion editor and eloquent storyteller. Recently, at the prompting of reading/writing exchange buddy Rachel, I have found a place in my spiritual journey for Tickle’s fixed-hour prayer manuals, The Divine Hours. Her blog reflects on a range of relevant quotes, traditions, and experiences; and her comments—some of which I espouse (e.g., Christianity is the exercise of biblical hospitality) and some of which I dispute (e.g., the validity of a single children’s prayer book that is acceptable to all three major religions)—are always thought provoking. Since I never know where she might go with a given idea, I find I pay closer attention to what I’m reading–and that’s a good thing when, as Lent perhaps reminds us to do, you’re trying to be more deliberate about what you believe and why.

So, are you reading anything specifically related to the season?
