Happy 40th anniversary of the publication of Eric Carle’s immensely popular The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Â Carle’s website features a video of the author/illustrator discussing his books, plus links to various anniversary celebration events around the country. Â The Mazza Museum, a first-rate collection of picture book art at the University of Findlay where my husband is teaching this year, has several original illustrations by Carle, including a delightful “how to illustrate your own book” piece for kids. Â If you’re in the area, I encourage you to drop by and celebrate not only Carle but all the other talented illustrators on exhibit.
