Current reading list, plus The Time Traveler’s Wife
Thanks to all my faithful readers who keep checking in despite my neglect! Courage and Conviction: Chronicles of the Reformation Church has now been delivered to the publisher and I can finally do some purely fun reading. So while I am chillin’ in OH with family this week, I am toting around the following:
The Tale of Desperaux, Kate DiCamillo (2004 Newberry Medal winner)
If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler, Italo Calvino (book club B’s August selection)
The Memory Keeper’s Daughter, Kim Edwards (borrowed from little sis, whom I am visiting this week)
And Brandon and I are listening to the audio version of The Virgin Blue, Tracy Chevalier, on the drive.
So, while I catch up on all this blogging fodder, here’s a new question: Has anyone read The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffennegger? Candy Cason recommended it to me last summer and I finally got around to reading it in April (aloud, actually, to Brandon while we were driving—all 500-some pages of the hardcover! The resulting sore throat convinced me to try the above audio book this time). I found it unusual and engaging—a significant debut novel—but still trying to process it. I’d love to hear what you thought. Anybody?
