OK, so he’s winning

My historian husband and I are admittedly a bit competitive when it comes to publishing, and there is nothing like a competition in which you’re rooting for both sides. So I’m proud to announce that he’s winning (for the moment, anyway!), with not one but TWO new publications on the horizon.

emergence-of-evangelicalism.jpgThe first to release will be The Emergence of Evangelicalism: Exploring Historical Continuities (Michael A. G. Haykin, Kenneth J. Stewart, eds.; IVP-UK/Apollos; March 2008), to which Brandon contributed a chapter, “Jonathan Edwards: continuator or pioneer of evangelical history?” What a cliffhanger, right? I know you can’t wait to reserve your copy, so pop over to his site for the details.

The second book is even more exciting to me, because the subject is someone we explored together in Courage and Conviction, our third History Lives volume. Katherine Parr: A Guided Tour of the Life and Thought of a Reformation Queen (Brandon G. Withrow; P&R Publishing; November 2008) is an accessible biography of this often-overlooked figure who played a huge role in the English Reformation. In addition to Brandon’s clear overview of her life and historical contributions, the book will include the texts of two books that Katherine wrote and which have been out of print for about 200 years! I love that readers will get the opportunity to see a woman reformer in action and read some of the remarkable prayers, essays, and letters she wrote during a pivotal turning point in history. No cover design to unveil yet, but you’ll find a bit more about the book and the series it is part of here.

And that’s all the shameless better-half promotion I have for today.

But don’t worry, girls. I’ll catch up to him. Watch me.
