Happy new year!  Those of you familiar with my History Lives series, co-written with my husband, will not be surprised to learn of my new writing partnership with him.  This time, rather than a book series, we are embarking on a joint blog.  We have both kept separate blogs for years — I started this one over five years ago now — and we plan to continue these individual writing spaces.  But at his invitation, I have also become a contributor to a unique blog he started last year called The Discarded Image.  The purpose of this blog is to discuss the concept of “living ontologically†(deliberate and thoughtful being) by exploring the intersection of faith, philosophy, and science through literature.  (If you know me, you know I read everything, and Brandon is a PhD who teaches history, philosophy, and religion; this blog is really just an extension of our conversations around the dinner table!)  So in addition to my other hats, I am now the fiction reviews editor at Discarded Image.  I will be posting original reviews there a few times a month, plus looking for other contributors to occasionally provide fiction reviews as well.  (If you are interested in submitting a fiction review for DI, just contact me with the title you’d like to review and a link to your blog or other writing sample.)  My first post there, a review of Muriel Barbery’s The Elegance of the Hedgehog, went up this morning.
I have not been a fruitful blogger as of late, with many other tasks on my plate over recent months. Â But my hope is that my new involvement at DI will rekindle my passion and discipline for blogging and result in more frequent posts — including a lot more book reviews — here at my personal site. Â I thank all of you who have kept me on your feed reader over these last quiet months, and as I get reorganized, I’ll be back to visiting your blogs much more frequently as well. Â I needed the time away but I’ve also missed all my interactions with you and am now excited to jump back in.
